  4. This program requires GTK+ 1.2.6 or higher to be compiled.
  5.  
  6. This program is developed on Debian GNU/Linux (woody/sid)
  7. (Linux 2.4.x + glibc 2.2), so it is possible not to work correctly
  8. on the other environment.

  118. ========

  120. Please make sure that gtk-devel and glib-devel (or similar) packages are
  121. installed before the compilation (you may also require flex (lex) and bison
  122. (yacc)).
  123.  
  124. To compile and install, just type:
  125.  
  126. % ./configure
  127. % make
  128. % su

  132. Additional libraries
  133. ====================
  134.  
  135. I recommend you to install gdk-pixbuf or gdk_imlib library before installing
  136. for built-in image view support, and compface library for X-Face support.
  137.  
  138. You can get compface utilities and library from the following location:

  141.  
  142. Sylpheed supports US-ASCII, ISO-8859-1, and EUC-JP by default.
  143. If you want other character set / encoding (such as UTF-8, KOI8-R, and GB2312)
  144. to be supported, you have to install libjconv, which is a wrapper for
  145. iconv(). You can obtain it from the following location:

  149. If you want to enable SSL support, append the option
  150. --enable-ssl after ./configure (you need OpenSSL).
  151.  
  152. If you want to enable IPv6 support, append the option
  153. --enable-ipv6 after ./configure.

  155. If you want to enable GnuPG support, you need GPGME 0.2.3 or later, and
  156. GnuPG 1.0.6 or later. You can get them from the following location:

  161. and append the option --enable-gpgme after ./configure.

  163. WARNING: the GnuPG support is still in the development stage, and it
  164.          may not work correctly. I suggest never to use a real key.
  165.          Please use sample keys.

  170. If the installation of Sylpheed failed, check all needed libraries are
